JONES IN T20 BEST FIGURES FOR SECONDS IN THRILLER AT BARNT GREEN

Cameron Jones returned his best T20 figures for Worcestershire Seconds who pushed a powerful Warwickshire side all the way before losing by one wicket at Barnt Green.

The Academy pace bowler finished with 4-0-23-4 after Warwickshire had been set a 150 target thanks chiefly to a half-century from triallist Nils Priestley.

Jones removed openers Will Rhodes and Rob Yates in his second over and returned to dismiss Jacob Bethell and Ethan Brookes.

He bowled his overs in four separate spells against a Bears side containing several first-teamers including ex-Worcestershire all-rounder Ed Barnard.

Joe Stanley chipped in with two wickets, and Ben Gibbon (3.4-0-23-2) picked up the ninth wicket with the total on 142 from the first ball of the final over.

But Warwickshire earned victory by the narrowest of margins with two balls to spare.

Priestley, who played List A cricket for Derbyshire in 2021, had struck 51 off 32 balls with three sixes and four fours.

He put on 40 for the second wicket with another triallist in ex-Glamorgan player Joe Cooke.

Josh Baker gave the innings additional momentum with 35 off 29 balls and put on 37 for the eighth wicket with Gibbon (17 not out) in a total of 149-8.
