EXCLUSIVE MEMBERS OPPORTUNITY TO ATTEND MEN’S OPEN TRAINING SESSION

Worcestershire members will be able to watch the County’s Men’s players in action during an open T20 training session at New Road on Thursday, April 27.

A three-hour session will get underway at 10am and offers the members the chance to see Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira and the squad hone their white ball skills ahead of the Vitality Blast.

The squad are taking advantage of a break from LV=Insurance County Championship action next week to switch to practicing at the short format of the game next Thursday and Friday.

But it will also be an opportunity to meet and interact with the coaches and playing staff during the session.

The opening Vitality Blast game against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on May 24 at the County Ground Northampton is only just over a month away.

Entrance to the session will be through the New Road Club Shop and Café entrance, with free parking available at the Premier Inn side of New Road; members using the car park are just required to enter their details in the main reception in The View

Head Coach, Alan Richardson, said: “We see it as a great opportunity to interact with members and allow them to see close up how we practice.

“We have a ‘bye’ week from the LV=Insurance County Championship, so it was the perfect opportunity for us to work on our white-ball skills, and we still have the following week to prepare for the Sussex Championship game.

“It is a nice change for the players, but it is also an opportunity for the members to come in and have a look at how we operate a little bit.

“It will give them just a taste of that.

“They give us a lot of backing and support home and away, and we hope they have an enjoyable experience in seeing how the boys work.”

With three more back-to-back Championship matches before the Vitality Blast, Richardson believes it is important to seize the chance to practice white ball cricket.

He said: “It is always a challenge, and it is not a surprise that we have to juggle the formats and go from one to the other, and it can happen very quickly.

“Therefore, we have to take opportunities to prepare for that when we can, and it is an opportunity to break things up a bit and for the guys to have a chance to think about their white-ball cricket while we have a little bit of time.”
