WORCESTERSHIRE HOPING FOR BETTER FORTUNES WITH WEATHER AFTER WASH-OUT

Worcestershire will be hoping for better fortunes with the weather after the second day of the Vitality County Championship match with Lancashire at Visit Worcestershire New Road was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Heavy overnight rain left New Road saturated and umpires Graham Lloyd and Alex Wharf abandoned play for the day after a 12.30pm inspection.

Worcestershire will hope to resume their first innings on Saturday on 119-7 with only 26 overs play possible on the opening day.

Matthew Waite is 47 not out from just 33 balls and Logan van Beek unbeaten on 24 from 19 deliveries.

The seventh wicket pair has so far added 63 in just seven overs after coming together at 56-7.

Tom Bailey and Anderson Phillip both picked up three wickets on a seamer-friendly pitch after Lancashire had won the toss.

Any tickets purchased for Day Two will be valid for Day Three or Four
