BPL ROUND-UP MORE WICKETS FOR DARLEY IN DRAMATIC TITLE FINALE

Harry Darley was again amongst the wickets for Shrewsbury, but opponents Moseley lifted the Birmingham and District Premier League Premier Division One title after a one wicket win.

Darley picked up the first three wickets to reduce Moseley to 32-3 in reply to Shrewsbury’s 142 all out.

He returned to the attack to claim the ninth wicket at 128-9 but Moseley’s last wicket pair saw them over the finishing line and to the title.

Darley ended with the fine figures of 10-1-28-4.

Moseley finished six points in front of Knowle and Dorridge who went down by two wickets to Kenilworth Wardens.

Josh Baker bowled 10 tight overs and finished with 1-22 as Knowle and Dorridge were dismissed for 191 and then Reeve Evitts (32) helped the Wardens to a narrow win.

Worcestershire Assistant Head Coach, Kadeer Ali, had been part of Smethwick’s 2022 title success but they had to be content with third spot despite defeating Berkswell by 51 runs.

Kashif Ali made 34 of Smethwick’s 204 all out and then Kadeer (3-41) and Kashif (1-18 off 10 overs) played important roles in Berkswell being bowled out for 153.

Taylor Cornall impressed with ball and then bat for Ombersley who pulled off a one wicket victory over Wolverhampton.

Cornall was responsible for four of the first five Wolverhampton wickets to fall and finished with 4-44 and then struck 83 off 91 balls with two sixes and eight fours.

He opened the batting with Jack Haynes (30) and the pair put on 53 but Ombersley slipped to 208-9 before their 10th wicket pair saw them home.

Ed Pollock smashed 47 off 17 balls with five sixes and four fours as Barnt Green chased down a 180 target in 21.4 overs to defeat fourth placed Halesowen.

In Premier Division Two, Ollie Walker has been promoted with Himley who finished runners-up to West Bromwich Dartmouth.

He had figures of 7-1-17-3 as Bromsgrove were bowled out for 125 in a five wicket success.

Mitchell Stanley (9-0-42-3) helped Shifnal (213-9) gain a 39 run victory over Lichfield (174 all out).
