BPL ROUND-UP: CORNALL HUNDRED AND FIVE WICKETS FOR EVITTS

Opener Taylor Cornall struck an unbeaten century but ended on the losing side as Ombersley went down by seven wickets in a high-scoring Birmingham and District Premier League encounter with Barnt Green.

Cornall batted through the innings to make 126 not out off 174 balls with three sixes and 11 fours as Ombersley totalled 262-4 from 55 overs.

But Olly Cox’s 64 helped Barnt Green chase down their target with 16 balls to spare.

Cox’s 103 ball knock contained six boundaries and he put on 155 for the second wicket with former Worcestershire player Jacques Banton (150 not out).

Worcestershire Assistant Head Coach Kadeer Ali impressed with ball and then bat as champions Smethwick triumphed by six wickets over Shrewsbury.

Kadeer’s spin brought him figures of 17-0-74-6 as Shrewsbury collapsed from 226-1 to 269-9.

He then made a patient 45 as Smethwick won with nearly ten overs in hand and put on 117 for the second wicket with Bilal Shafayat (144).

Academy player Reeve Evitts recorded a five wicket haul for Kenilworth Wardens in their 25 run win over Kidderminster.

Ben Gibbon (10-4-22-2) helped bowl out Kenilworth for 146.

But then Evitts worked his way through the middle and lower order to finish with 7-3-13-5 as Kidderminster were dismissed for 121, with Josh Baker (16-9-24-0) taking three catches.

Another Academy player in Ben Clarke (8-3-16-2) was on the winning side as Barnards Green (191 all out) defeated Berkswell by 47 runs.
