Academy achieve double T20 triumph over Nottinghamshire

Worcestershire Academy (Under-18s) gained an excellent double over Nottinghamshire Under-18s in a T20 double header at Lady Bay Sports Club, Nottingham.

They triumphed in Game One by 55 runs and followed it up with a six wicket success on Game Two.

In Game One, Lucas Ingram hit 42 off 30 balls with two sixes and five fours to get the Worcestershire innings off to a flying start during an opening stand of 51 with Dan Latergan (24).

Seth Essenhigh maintained the momentum with 39 off 21 balls in a total of 162-7.

When Nottinghamshire batted, they were bowled out for 107 in 17.4 overs with Asad Ullah Azam picking up three wickets (4-0-15-3).

Chris Ellison (1.4-0-12-2), Jeet Varaich (3-0-16-1), Ben Clements (3-0-25-1), Ben Clarke (3-0-15-1) and Joshua Leach (3-0-24-1) were the other wicket-takers.

In Game Two, Nottinghamshire batted first and Worcestershire skipper Clarke removed both openers.

Joshua Leach (4-0-28-3) and Chris Ellison (4-0-28-3) then restricted the home side to 151-8.

Ingram and Essenhigh were again the main contributors with the bat for Worcestershire.

Ingram struck 50 off 46 balls with one six and four fours and Essenhigh 57 from 40 deliveries with five sixes and two fours during a third wicket stand of 94.

Worcestershire reached 152-4 with seven balls to spare.
