WORCESTERSHIRE TO STAGE ECB CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL

Worcestershire will stage the prestigious 2024 ECB Club Championship final between Northern CC and Brentwood CC at Visit Worcestershire New Road on Sunday (September 14).

The final of the 40 over competition, which was first launched in 1969, is scheduled to get underway at 11am.

Scarborough have won the competition five times closely followed on four occasions by Old Hill whose side in the 1980s contained ex Worcestershire players Keith Wilkinson and Cedric Boyns.

Brentwood’s line-up includes the leading scorer in this summer’s competition in Jordan Silk who has scored 393 runs in six innings.

He hit an unbeaten 73 in the semi-final success over Bath when Brentwood chased down a 256 target with 2.5 overs to spare.

Northern reached the final thanks to a 61 run victory over Kimberley Institute, scoring 241-8 and bowling their opponents out for 180 in 36.5 overs.

The format has largely stayed the same from the initial season to the present day. All teams are split into 16 regional knockouts, with the 16 winners going into a national round
