WORCESTERSHIRE ONE DAY CUP SPINNER HINLEY BIDDING FOR T20 GLORY

Spinner Tom Hinley will switch back to National Counties cricket tomorrow (Sunday 8th September), after his success for Worcestershire in the Metro Bank One Day Cup, when he plays for Oxfordshire in the re-arranged NCCA T20 Finals Day at Boughton Hall, Cheshire.

Hinley finished the One Day Cup campaign with 13 wickets after playing for Worcestershire in all nine games.

He helped the Rapids overcome an inexperienced attack to reach the quarter-finals and then last week played for the Seconds and picked up seven wickets against Middlesex.

But he will revert to National Counties mode for a day and is part of a 12 strong squad for an event which was originally scheduled for May but was washed out.

Hinley and Oxfordshire will face Cumbria in the first semi-final with Berkshire taking on Staffordshire in the other tie to decide the finalists.

The 21-year-old had taken 3-15 against Cumbria in the original meeting – the only match to get underway – but play had to be abandoned before a positive result could be obtained.

Hinley had also played a major role for the National Counties winning the European T10 Cricket Championship when playing under the banner of an “England XI”.

He smashed 71 off 24 balls with nine sixes in the final triumph against the Netherlands in Spain.

Pace bowler Hishaam Khan, who also played for Worcestershire in the One Day Cup, is part of the Staffordshire squad.
