ACADEMY QUARTET SELECTED FOR SUPER FOURS AND OFF TO WINNING START

Four Worcestershire Academy players have been selected for the 2024 ‘Super Fours’ which are taking place this week at the National Performance Centre, Loughborough.

Toby Cox, Josh Leach and Seth Essenhigh and have been chosen for the Midlands side and Jack Home for the South-West in the four-region tournament which also includes London-East and North.

Home was part of the Worcestershire senior squad for the Metro Bank One Day Cup and picked up 16 wickets in five games.

He was the only one of the quartet not to feature in the opening game which saw the Midlands gain a six wicket win over South-West.

Cox (1-38) and Leach (1-42) both picked up a wicket in a South-West total of 264-9 from 50 overs after they had been put into bat.

Essenhigh was undefeated on 13 not out with two boundaries as the Midlands reached 268-4 with 15 balls to spare.

Adam Finch of the current Worcestershire first team squad had previously played in the Super Fours.

The tournament is effectively the Under-18s equivalent of the Bunburys for which Worcestershire also had four players selected earlier in the summer.
