SMITH SECOND HIGHEST WICKET-TAKER IN PLUNKET SHIELD

Worcestershire 2024 overseas signing, Nathan Smith, will head into the second half of the Plunket Shield competition in New Zealand as the joint second highest wicket-taker this winter.

Smith, who is available to play all formats for Worcestershire next summer, has picked up 21 wickets in four appearances for Wellington.

His efforts have played an important role in Wellington climbing into second spot in the four-day tournament with two wins and two draws.

Only Northern Districts bowler, Scott, Kuggeleijn, has taken more wickets than Smith with 22 while Otago’s Jacob Duffy is level with Smith on 21.

Smith has been a model of consistency and his performances include 5-67 against Northern Districts and 4-34 versus Central Districts.

He has also made useful runs batting in the top seven with 58 against Northern Districts and 49 versus Canterbury.
