OVERSEAS ROUND-UP DECEMBER 9 2023

Ed Pollock hit an unbeaten 82 to help St. George CC to a seven wicket win over Parramatta CC in a New South Wales Premier Cricket first grade one-day encounter.

The Worcestershire batter came to the wicket at 43-2 and saw his side to their 177 target with 12.1 overs to spare.

He struck four sixes and seven fours in his 89 ball knock.

An unbroken partnership of 121 with St. George captain, Nicholas Stapleton (40 not out) clinched victory.

Pollock had earlier taken one catch as Parramatta CC were bowled out for 176 in 43 overs.

Gareth Roderick was also amongst the runs and completed his third half century of the winter as he skippered Green Point to a 110 run win over Rondebosch CC in a Western Province Premier Division fixture.

Roderick opted to bat and came in at 20-1 to make 78 off 88 deliveries with four maximums and seven other boundaries.

He put on 141 for the third wicket with Adam Scher (57) as Green Point totalled 295 all out in 50 overs.

Roderick was fourth out with the total on 167 and then held onto a catch to dismiss opener Bradley Barnes (17) as Rondebosch were bowled out for 185 in 36.2 overs.

The keeper-batter has scored 287 runs in nine knocks at an average of 35.90 so far this winter.

Another Worcestershire player on the winning side was spinner Josh Baker for Northern District CC who defeated Campbelltown Camden CC by nine wickets in a New South Wales Premier Cricket second grade match.

Baker came into the attack for the 16th over and made a breakthrough in his third over in dismissing James Lindsay – his 16th wicket of the campaign.

He bowled an initial six over spell and then another four over stint towards the back of the innings.

Baker finished with figures of 10-1-35-1 as Campbelltown were bowled out for 133 in 48.1 overs.

He also picked up two catches and was involved in a run out.

Baker was not required to bat as Northern District reached their modest target in just 17 overs.

All-rounder Ethan Brookes suffered a second successive blank weekend because of the weather as Prahran CC’s Victorian Premier Cricket first grade match against Ringwood CC was washed out.

Pace bowler Cameron Jones’ side, Collingwood Park CC, had a bye in the Albany and District Cricket Association competition.
