WORCESTERSHIRE OVERSEAS ROUND-UP – NOVEMBER 25-26

Gareth Roderick hit another half century but his side, Green Point CC, were edged out by Durbanville CC in a Western Province Premier Division 50 over encounter.

The Worcestershire keeper-batter had seen his side over the finishing line with an unbeaten 58 against Rylands CC and top-scored with 37 against Cape Town.

He came to the wicket on Sunday with Green Point 9-2 chasing a 270 target and they quickly slumped to 48-4.

But Roderick revived their hopes in partnership with century-maker, Adam Scher, in adding 96 for the fifth wicket.

He had made 59 off 76 balls with one six and four fours when fifth out at 144 and Green Point eventually closed on 261-9 from 50 overs.

Roderick had been dismissed for two on Saturday as Green Point (182 in 42.5 overs) went down by seven wickets to Claremont CC.

Ed Pollock scored an unbeaten 35 for St. George CC in his first innings of the winter in a New South Wales Premier Cricket second grade meeting with Manly Warringah CC.

Pollock made the switch half-way through the game from the first grade fixture between the sides so he could have a knock after New South Wales captain and Australian international, Moises Henriques, returned to the senior side.

He hit two sixes and four fours in his 49 ball innings and helped St. George recover from the loss of four early wickets.

They had reached 116-4 from 42 overs when rain intervened in reply to their opponents first day total of 204 all out.

Josh Baker had to suffer a complete wash-out of day two of Northern District CC second grade fixture with Western Suburbs CC.

Baker had taken three wickets on day one when Western Suburbs were dismissed for 208 but Northern Districts could not add to their 21-0 because of the weather.

Northern District are lying fifth in the 20-team table, six points behind leaders Bankstown, with St. George one point further back in ninth position.

Ethan Brookes was involved in a two-day match over the weekend for Prahran CC in the Victorian Premier League A grade against St. Kilda CC.

Brookes came on second change and had figures of 14-5-31-1, trapping vice-captain Ed Newman (25) lbw, in a total of 175 all out.

He then struck a run a ball 26 not out on day two, batting at number four as Prahran, for whom Cameron Hemp and Damon Egan hit hundreds, reached 279-2 from 67 overs.

Cameron Jones picked up two wickets with the new ball as Collingwood Park bowled out Manypeaks for 68 in 30.2 overs in an Albany and District Cricket Association ‘A’ grade encounter.

Jones bowled opener and captain Pegan Poett and also dismissed keeper Kane Pinney and had figures of 4-0-15-2.

Collingwood then raced to a 10 wicket win in just 8.1 overs.
