Josh Baker’s excellent start to his spell with Northern District CC continued on the opening day of the New South Wales Premier Cricket second grade encounter with Western Suburbs.

The Worcestershire spinner picked up three more wickets to take his tally to 11 in three games.

Baker came on second change after 14 overs and struck with the first delivery of his third over, holding onto a return catch to dismiss Mohammad Javed (22).

The first ball of his next over brought him a further success, as he trapped Tony Cornwell (3) lbw.

Baker bowled 10 overs in his first spell, switched ends to deliver a further seven, and then came back for a further 8.1 as he polished off the innings by having last man Samuel Schembri-Green (24) stumped.

He finished with figures of 25.1-7-66-3 as Western Suburbs were bowled out for 208 in 89.1 overs and then Northern Districts reached 21-0 from 12 overs by the close.

Ed Pollock spent day one of the New South Wales Premier Cricket first grade meeting with Manly Warringah in the field.

St. George will resume next weekend on 76-0 from 20 overs after dismissing their opponents for 185 in 73.3 overs.

Gareth Roderick top-scored for Green Point CC who went down by 184 runs to Cape Town in a Western Province Premier Division 50 over fixture.

The Worcestershire keeper-batter held onto three catches in a Cape Town total of 268-8 from 50 overs.

Roderick came to the wicket at 1-2 and made 37 off 56 balls with four boundaries before he was eighth out with the total on 71.

Only one other player reached double figures as Green Point were bowled out for 84 in 26.3 overs.

Ethan Brookes was on the winning side as Prahran CC chased down a 208 target to defeat Richmond CC by two wickets in a Victorian Premier Cricket first grade match.

Worcestershire’s new signing, a century-maker in the previous game, had taken 2-15 from six overs on the opening day.

He was dismissed for 11 on day two batting at number six, lbw to Andrew Humphries and Prahran were then 93-6. But an unbroken stand of 46 between Max Delaney (31|) and Aidan Wheeler (28) saw them to victory.

Pace bowler Cameron Jones had a spell of 3-10 in the space of three overs as his side, Collingwood Park CC, also won by two wickets against Mount Barker Bulls in the Albany and District Cricket Association ‘A’ grade,

Jones shared the new ball and did not pick up a wicket in his initial six over spell, but he was more successful when he returned towards the end of the innings.

He struck in the 36th over and then delivered a double wicket maiden in the 40th as Mount Barker Bulls were bowled out for 168 in 40.3 overs.

Jones had overall figures of 9-2-25-3.

He was dismissed for nine, bowled by Nathan Crudeli, after coming in at number seven, but Collingwood Park edged over the finishing line with three balls to spare.

New Worcestershire signing, all-rounder Tom Taylor, is currently in Abu Dhabi as part of a training camp with the Chennai Braves T10 squad.
