LIBBY AND LEACH LEAD THE PROMOTION CAMPAIGN STATS

Jake Libby and Joe Leach finished as the third highest run-scorer and wicket-taker respectively in Division Two of the LV=Insurance County Championship for the 2023 season.

Libby achieved his highest ever run tally in a season – 1153 – and hit four hundreds and five fifties.

He also featured in the most century partnerships for Worcestershire  – five – and was a model of consistency.

Only Durham’s Alex Lees (1347) and Derbyshire’s Leus du Plooy (1236) scored more runs than Libby and they both played two matches more than the Worcestershire opener.

Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira’s superb run of late season form meant he finished second in the Worcestershire averages while keeper-batter Gareth Roderick was the second highest run-scorer.

Leach picked up 48 wickets and finished as Worcestershire’s leading wicket-taker for the sixth time after achieving the feat in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020 and 2021.

The Durham pair of Ben Raine (60) and Matthew Potts (54) were the only bowlers to take more wickets than Leach with Leicestershire’s Chris Wright also on 48.

Adam Finch made encouraging progress to pick up 28 wickets and the first two five-fors of his career.

Roderick’s consistent form behind the stumps meant he finished with the third highest number of dismissals in Division Two.

Roderick ended with 38 catches and stumpings from 13 matches with only Durham’s Ollie Robinson (47 from 14) and Sussex’s Ollie Carter (45 from 14) ahead of him.
