ACADEMY PLAYER TOP SCORES FOR YOUNG LIONS SIDE AT LOUGHBOROUGH

Worcestershire Academy player, Seth Essenhigh, top-scored for Young Lions ‘A’ in the first of two matches against Young Lions ‘B’ at the National Performance Centre, Loughborough.

Keeper-batter Essenhigh went to the wicket at 2-1 and scored 44 off 47 balls with one six and five fours.

Essenhigh, part of the 2022-2023 Academy intake, added 75 with opener B. Michael (40) before he was second out.

Young Lions ‘A’ were bowled out for 195 in 42.2 overs and then Worcestershire Emerging Players Pathway player, Toby Cox, came on first change and bowled five tidy overs for 20 runs.

But Young Lions ‘B’ triumphed by three wickets in 36.1 overs with Essenhigh taking one catch although he did not keep wicket in either game.

In Game Two, Cox bowled four overs for 33 runs as Young Lions ‘B’ made 213-8 in 35 overs in a rain affected match.

Essenhigh was dismissed for two but Young Lions ‘A’ levelled the two game series by winning by one wicket off the final ball.

The two games involved Under-15 and Under-16 players from all over the country.
