CAPTAIN STANLEY LEADS BY EXAMPLE IN ACADEMY TITLE TRIUMPH

Captain Joe Stanley made a big impact with bat and ball in helping Worcestershire Academy (Under-18s) retain their ECB Under-18 County Championship Group Two title.

Stanley finished as the Academy’s leading run-scorer with 264 runs at an average of 33.

He hit his maiden century in any form of cricket in the deciding fixture with Gloucestershire at Bath.

Stanley also showed his worth with the ball as he picked up 14 wickets at an average of 16.93.

Olly Cox, Reeve Evitts and Ollie Walker were the other main run-scorers for the unbeaten Academy.

Harry Darley ended as the leading wicket-taker with 21 at a cost of just 14.86 runs apiece.

He was a model of consistency with a competition best of 5-35 versus Wales but also a four-for and two three-fors.

(Qualification 100 runs for batting and four wickets for bowling)
