SECONDS BEAT NOTTS TO CONTINUE WINNING RUN

Worcestershire Seconds continued their superb run of results in the Second Eleven Championship as they defeated a strong Nottinghamshire side by six wickets with a day and a half to spare at Kidderminster.

Keeper Henry Cullen picked up 10 catches in the match, including six in the first innings, as Worcestershire completed a fifth win in their last six four-day games.

There were also several notable individual performances with bat and ball at Chester Road after Nottinghamshire were put into bat.

Left armer Ben Gibbon destroyed the Nottinghamshire middle and lower order in their first innings and finished with figures of 12.5-4-42-6.

There was also two wickets for Pat Brown (8-3-20-2) as Nottinghamshire were dismissed for 139 in 40.5 overs.

Olly Cox then made an excellent 73 for Worcestershire to rescue them in their first innings from 44-4.

He struck one six and 12 fours in his 97 ball innings and added 92 for the sixth wicket with Ollie Sutton (42) before Gibbon (45) gave the innings late momentum.

Nottinghamshire lost half of their side for 89 when they batted again before recovering to 278 all out in 81.4 overs.

Sutton (11-3-31-3), Ben Parker (11-3-28-2) and Matt Burton (5.4-1-25-2) were the most successful bowlers as they stuck to their task in the sweltering conditions.

Worcestershire were left a 187 target and openers Taylor (51) and Rehaan Edavalath (30) gave them the ideal start with a partnership of 82.

Josh Baker, who took a hat-trick against Nottinghamshire Seconds at Lady Bay Sports Club two years ago, this time impressed with the bat to clinch victory.

He made an unbeaten 70 from just 68 balls with 12 fours as Worcestershire reached 188-4 in 56.3 overs.
