CRICKET SOCIETY FINALISE WINTER EVENINGS PROGRAMME FOR 2023-2024

Worcestershire Cricket Society have finalised their list of guest speakers for 2023-2024 and it includes four former England players and a Worcestershire CCC legend.

David Gower, James Taylor, Mark Ramprakash, Phil Neale and Matthew Maynard have all been confirmed as part of the programme which runs from October to March.

The cricket evenings will be staged in the Graeme Hick Pavilion on the second Tuesday of each month and begin at 7.30pm.

David Gower OBE will kick off proceedings on October 10 and one of the most elegant batters to play for England featured in 117 Tests and scored 8231 runs at an average of 44.25 with 18 centuries.

Former Worcestershire Academy product and England batter James Taylor will be the guest speaker on November 14 and he is currently batting coach at Leicestershire.

Another England batter in Mark Ramprakash MBE will visit New Road on December 12 and he attracted a new legion of admirers as the 2006-2007 winners of BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.

Ramprakash scored 35,569 first class runs at 53.14 with 114 hundreds and 13,273 List A runs at 40.22 with 17 centuries.

Former Worcestershire captain Phil Neale OBE will be recalling his cricketing and footballing careers on January 9.

Phil led Worcestershire to seven trophies in five seasons, including two County Championships and two Sunday League titles, during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

A Worcestershire player of official will entertain members and guests on February 13.

The programme concludes with Matthew Maynard MBE on March 12. He played in four Tests and 14 ODIs and skippered Glamorgan to the 1997 County Championship title.

It costs £20 for a single membership and £30 for a double.
