A DEBUT TO REMEMBER FOR WORCESTERSHIRE WOMEN’S RAPIDS ALL-ROUNDER

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids all-rounder Charis Pavely had a day to remember when she made her Worcestershire County League Premier Division debut for Old Elizabethans last weekend.

Pavely, part of the England Under-19 squad which reached the ICC T20 World Cup final this winter, picked up six wickets during the drawn game with Chaddesley Corbett.

She came on first change and made the initial breakthrough to end an opening partnership of 59.

Pavely then destroyed the middle and lower order, in taking five of the final six wickets to fall, including top scorer Mohammed Fahim Maan (37).

It led to Chaddesley being dismissed for 198 in 48 overs after winning the toss after reaching 153-4 at one stage.

Paveley ended with the splendid figures of 14-0-53-6.

Old Elizabethans looked set for victory after reaching 119-1 in 23.2 overs, with Tom Goodwin 62 not out, but then rain intervened and the game was drawn.

Fellow Women’s Rapids all-rounder, Clare Boycott, was also in good form for Astwood Bank in a Division Five meeting with Droitwich Spa.

She top-scored with 53 not out in Astwood Bank’s 216-6 but their opponents reached 153-3 from 30.3 overs and won under the Duckworth-Lewis Method.
