Women’s Rapids suffer first setback in ECB 50 Over competition

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids suffered their first defeat of 2024 in the ECB Women’s County 50 Over Group Three when they went down by 204 runs to Cricket Wales at Panteg.
Cricket Wales opted to bat and totalled 256-3 in their 50 overs with a series of consistent scores between 20 and 63 in their top five.
Spinner Phoebe Brett bowled a tight spell and finished with 1-37 from her 10 overs with Imogen Hill and Bryony Gillgrass were the other wicket-takers.
They both finished with figures of 3-0-15-1.
The Rapids had won their opening two games in the tournament against Birmingham Bears and Oxfordshire but had one of those days with the bat when little went right.
They were bowled out for 52 in 17.5 overs by a four strong attack with none of their batters reaching double figures.
The Rapids will be looking to bounce back when they entertain Dorset in another 50 Over encounter on July 14.
