Live Art at Visit Worcestershire New Road Celebrates England vs New Zealand Women’s Match

In a remarkable fusion of sports and art, Visit Worcestershire New Road hosted an extraordinary live art event during the England vs New Zealand women’s match in the Metro Bank One Day Series.

This unique project, brought to life in collaboration with BEARD creative agency, saw supporters contributing to a giant 3x2m artwork throughout the day, celebrating the spirit of the game and the talents of two iconic players: England Captain Heather Knight and New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr.

The live art event was a vibrant celebration, with fans eagerly participating in the creation of the artwork. Guided by artists from BEARD, spectators had the chance to add their personal touches to the piece, making it a collective masterpiece that reflects the passion and unity of cricket supporters.

The artwork, featuring dynamic representations of Heather Knight and Amelia Kerr, captured the essence of the fierce yet respectful rivalry between the two teams. As the day progressed, the painting evolved, symbolising the unfolding drama and excitement of the match itself.

Adding a touch of glamour and significance to the event, both Heather Knight and Amelia Kerr participated in the final touches of the artwork. Their involvement not only enhanced the artistic value of the piece but also created a lasting memory for the supporters present. The final flourish came as both players signed the artwork, making it a truly unique and cherished item.

The completed artwork is set to be auctioned off in aid of The Giles Trust, a charity dedicated to supporting brain tumour research and treatment. Alongside the original piece, ten signed and framed prints will also be auctioned, providing more opportunities for fans to own a piece of this historic event.

Joe Tromans, Worcestershire County Cricket Club Head of Commercial & Partnerships, expressed his enthusiasm for the event: “We are thrilled to have hosted this exceptional live art project at New Road.

“It’s been a fantastic way to engage with our supporters and celebrate the talent and sportsmanship of both teams.

“We’re proud to support The Giles Trust through this initiative, and we’re excited to see the impact it will have.”

Rob March Managing Director of BEARD added, “Collaborating with Worcestershire County Cricket Club on this project has been an incredible experience and the enthusiasm and creativity of the supporters throughout the day was truly inspiring.

“Having Heather Knight and Amelia Kerr contribute to the artwork has elevated it to a whole new level. We are delighted to support such a worthy cause and look forward to seeing the positive outcomes from the auction.”

The auction for the artwork and signed prints will be conducted online from 6pm on Monday 1 July until 8pm on Sunday 7 July, providing a global audience the chance to participate and contribute to The Giles Trust.
