SECONDS RETURN TO CHAMPIONSHIP ACTION AT KIDDERMINSTER

Worcestershire Seconds will return to Championship action for the first time in almost seven weeks when they take on Nottinghamshire at Kidderminster beginning on Monday (September 4).

They will be looking to continue the fine form which has seen them climb into fourth spot in the table after four wins in the last five games.

Ed Pollock will skipper the side which also includes Josh Baker and Ben Gibbon after their release from the squad for the LV=Insurance County Championship match with Glamorgan at New Road.

Assistant Coach Richard Jones, who has overseen the majority of the Seconds programme this summer, said: “We are not setting out to win the Second Eleven Championship at the start of the year.

“We are setting out to play good cricket, instill some good basics and make sure the language is shared from the first team right throughout the club.

“The fact we are fourth means we have played some good cricket and won some games which is very pleasing and going into the last two games in September, it will be great to see how the guys take on that challenge of trying to get even higher up the table.

“The winning feeling,  it is something you learn to do as a cricketer and you play sport because you like to win and you are competitive and the fact we have won so many games is a great thing because we’ve won from different positions.”
