Charis Pavely smashed an unbeaten 97 off 75 balls as Worcestershire Launched their ECB Girls Under-18 County Competition Group Two with an 18 run win over Shropshire at Bromsgrove Cricket Club.
Pavely, part of the England side which reached the ICC Under-19 World Cup final this winter, came in at number three and hit 14 boundaries.
She put on 102 for the second wicket with Ellie Roberts whose 102 balls 73 included eight fours as Worcestershire totalled 217-5 in their 40 overs.
Shropshire looked to be well in the hunt in reply at 160-4 but then Pavely (8-2-25-1) dismissed top scorer Amy Griffiths for 80.
No-one else in the visitors side scored more than 12 but their total was boosted by 65 extras including 46 wides and they eventually were bowled out for 199 in 38.4 overs.
Melissa Watson returned 3-26 from 5.4 overs and Niamh Campbell 2-32 from eight overs with Charlotte Roberts (1-16) and Bryony Gillgrass (1-6) the other wicket-takers.
Worcestershire are back in ECB Under-18 Cup action on Thursday (July 6) when they take on Staffordshire at Milford Cricket Club.
