Josh Tongue admitted his Worcestershire County Championship debut was "the kind of thing I've been dreaming of" after he destroyed Glamorgan's second innings at the SWALEC Stadium.
The 19-year-old paceman finished with 5-45 from just 10 overs as the County completed an emphatic eight wicket success.
Tongue has had his fair share of injury problems in recent years and has spent the winter in rehab after undergoing back surgery.
But Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes and bowling coach Matt Mason have always had belief in his potential and it came to fruition in Cardiff.
Tongue told BBC Hereford-Worcester's Dave Bradley: "Words can't really describe how I am feeling really. Phenomenal.
"It's what I've been dreaming of really, making my debut and now getting a five-for. It is an amazing feeling.
"I felt really good bowling wise today. I hit the pitch hard and got a bit out of it. All of our bowlers performed really well on that pitch.
"For me it is all about rhythm, the run-up, the timings of my arms, making sure that is perfect and hopefully that will bring me success."
Academy product Tongue was delighted to reward the faith and patience shown in him by Rhodes and Mason after his lengthy lay-offs.
He said: "I did really well at Oxford on my first class debut and then two weeks down the line my back was hurting, I had a scan and there was a stress fracture and I had an operation.
"All credit to Ben Davies and Ross Dewar for getting me fully fit and getting me ready for the start of the season.
"Playing me in the first game does show the coaches have got a lot of faith in me. I've bowled well in the nets and did well in the warm-up games.
"I've learnt a lot off Mase (Matt Mason) and it is great to get all the experience off him and technical points and how he goes about things."
Tongue is being carefully monitored in terms of the length of his spells after his winter long rehab but eventually hopes to increase his workload.
He said: "They are just limiting it at the moment, trying to get me back into full fitness and then hopefully down the line I can bowl more overs in my spells."
