Worcs Ccc Trio Help Midlands To Victory At Bunbury Festival

A trio of Worcestershire CCC players in Pete Clark, Alex Hinkley and Dan Holland played significant roles in helping the Midlands defeat the South-West today in the ESCA Under-15s Bunbury Cricket Festival at Stowe School.

Clark produced the superb figures of 3-17 from 10 overs as the South-West were dismissed for 121 in 38 overs after being put into bat.

Another Worcestershire player in Lewis Evans bowled three overs for just two runs.

Then Hinkley and Holland featured in the decisive partnership for the Midlands of 99 in 28 overs for the second wicket.

Opener Holland was second out for 35 from 83 balls with five boundaries.

Hinkley went onto make a fine 58 off 95 deliveries with eight boundaries before he was dismissed with just three needed for victory as the Midlands triumphed by seven wickets with 15.2 overs to spare.

Holland and Hinkley are part of Worcestershire CCC's Under-15 age group programme and EDP programme.

Clark and Evans are part of the County's satellite Shropshire academy which is run by former County paceman Paul Pridgeon.

The Bunbury Festival showcases the skills of 56 of the most talented England Under-15 players in the country.

Victory enabled the Midllands to bounce back from an eight wicket defeat in their opening game of the festival against London and The East.

The Midlands opted to bat and scored 237-5 in their 50 overs with Hinkley scoring 13 off 27 balls and Clark five.

London and The East reached 239-2 in reply with Clark bowling six overs for 33 runs and Evans three overs for 33 runs.
