Worcestershire CCC would like to pass on its congratulations to Worcester Warriors after gaining promotion back to the Aviva Premiership.
The incredible finale to the match against Bristol last night brought back memories of our own nerve-jangling promotion clinching success over Surrey last September.
It is great for the whole city to have a vibrant sporting scene and can only be good news to have Worcestershire CCC, Worcester Warriors and Worcester Wolves in the top division of their respective sports.
Worcestershire CCC chief executive David Leatherdale said: "It seems the city's sporting clubs like to test the nerve-ends of its supporters!
"No-one who was there will ever forget what will forever be known as Jack Shantry's match against Surrey when Worcestershire came back from a lost looking cause to gain promotion.
"That same sort of spirit is clearly evident in the Worcester Warriors in the way they came from 14 points down with only a few minutes left to secure the draw and the one point win over the two legs.
"Everyone at Worcestershire CCC wishes to pass on their congratulations to the Warriors on their excellent achievement and hope they – and ourselves – are successful in establishing themselves in the top flight."
Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell said: "I watched last night's game and it was an incredible finale and congratulations on the Warriors getting promotion.
"That was definitely one of those 'I was there' occasions people will look back on in years to come.
"It's brilliant that the city has got its cricket, rugby and basketball teams all playing in the top flight in 2015 and something we should all be proud of."
