Worcestershire were frustrated by the elements on the second day of the first class fixture with Oxford MCCU in The Parks.
Persistent rain meant that no play was possible with it being abandoned for the day in mid afternoon.
Worcestershire will now hope to resume tomorrow on 155-2 after bowling out the students for 124 yesterday.
Jack Shantry's deadly burst had put Worcestershire in control.
The left armer came back into the attack for a second spell with Oxford 100-3 and in his next eight overs he returned figures of 5-11.
Shantry finished with 5-18 from 18 overs as Oxford were dismissed in 64.1 overs after losing their last seven wickets for 24 runs.
Then skipper Daryl Mitchell hit a half century as Worcestershire set out to build a substantial first innings total.
Worcestershire paceman Charlie Morris picked up the initial two wickets in three balls on his return to Oxford.
Morris, who graduated from the Oxford Brookes university last summer, sent back Henry Hughes and Lloyd Sabin in his fifth over after Mitchell won the toss and put the home side into bat on a cool cloudy morning.
Gareth Andrew shared the new ball with Morris and runs were hard to come by in another disciplined performance from the Worcestershire bowlers.
Morris made the initial breakthrough with 26 on the board when Hughes was caught behind by Ben Cox – a fine acrobatic one handed effort – for two.
Then two balls later Lloyd Sabin was bowled for a duck by the player who picked up 52 LV = County Championship wickets in his first full season at New Road.
Shantry replaced Andrew after an opening spell of 5-1-15-0 and settled into his usual pinpoint accurate line and length.
Morris came out of the attack with figures of 8-5-10-2 and Andrew switched ends to take over from the Hereford born player.
Andrew enjoyed his first success of the morning when opener Steve Leach, after making 22 in 24 overs, was bowled to leave Oxford on 41-3.
Oxford reach 72-3 off 34 overs by the interval with Lloyd Paternott, who used to share a flat with Morris, unbeaten on 22 and Luke Webb 10 not out.
Andrew and Morris bowled further tight spells after lunch but the 50 stand between Paternott and Webb came up in 21 overs.
Andrew bowled a further six overs for 11 runs and Morris seven for 12 runs before D'Oliveira and Shantry came back into the attack.
Shantry immediately struck when having Webb caught by Gidman for 23 and in his next over he ended Paternott's 123 ball resistance for 40 when he was smartly stumped by Cox.
D'Oliveira then bowled Malcolm Lake for a duck with Oxford 103-6 after losing three wickets in the space of 15 deliveries.
The procession back to the pavilion continued with Tom Kohler-Cadmore holding onto two fine slip catches in quick succession off Shantry to remove Ed Ellis and McIver.
Shantry completed his five wicket haul when Tom Fell held onto a sharp slip chance offered by Sam Weller and D'Oliveira wrapped up the innings by removing Grundy courtesy of Mitchell's safe pair of hands.

Richard Oliver got the Worcestershire reply off to a flying start in partnership with Mitchell.
The left hander raced to 42 off just 30 deliveries with eight boundaries before he was bowled by Weller with the total on 65-1 in the ninth over.
Mitchell was joined by Fell – another graduate from Oxford Brookes – and the pair posted a half century stand in nine overs.
Worcestershire went past their opponents modest total in the 21st over.
Mitchell brought up his half century off 78 balls with his eighth boundary – off McIver – and in the process also raised the 150 in the 27th over.
The partnership raised 86 in 20 overs before Fell was stumped by Ellis off McIver for 42 after hitting six fours in his 68 ball knock.
