It is a proud day for Worcestershire Women’s Rapids leg spinner Sarah Glenn who has been named in the England Women’s squad for their ODI and T20 Series against Pakistan in Malaysia next month.
Sarah, who also plays for Loughborough Lightning in the Kia Super League, has earned her first call-up from her country.
Last summer she finished with 16 wickets for the Rapids in the ECB County Championship 50 over competition at 19.94 runs apiece and with an economy rate of 3.68.
Sarah also picked up four scalps in the ECB T20 tournament with an economy rate of only 4.05 runs per over.
For Loughborough, Sarah was their joint leading wicket-taker in the Kia Super League with 11 at an average of 18.72.
Her efforts helped the Lightning to reach the semi-finals before they lost to Southern Vipers.
The three ODIs form part of the ICC Women’s Championship, and thus represent six points towards qualification for the 2021 ICC Women’s World Cup – a tournament for which England have now guaranteed qualification.
The three IT20s will represent an opportunity to prepare for February’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
All six matches will be live-streamed and available to watch in the UK.
England captain Heather Knight said: “We’re looking forward to getting out there and getting back to international cricket.
“It’s been a few months since our last game and there’s been a fair bit of change in that time so this tour is an opportunity to start a new era and move forward.
“There’s a few younger faces in the group but also a lot of proven talent. I’m really happy with the group and we can’t wait for the next few months.”
