WORCESTERSHIRE WOMEN’S RAPIDS ENJOY DOUBLE ECB T20 SUCCESS OVER BERKSHIRE

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids completed an excellent double success over Berkshire Women in two games in the ECB Women’s County Championship T20 Group Two at Bromsgrove CC.

The Rapids triumphed by 47 runs in Game One, with Clare Boycott hitting a fine half century, and won by 41 runs in Game Two with Georgina Macey scoring a fifty and Flora Bertwhistle bowling a tight spell.

It means the Rapids have won three of their opening four games in the competition this summer.

In Game One, the Rapids were put into bat and opener Boycott’s 65 came off just 54 balls with six boundaries.

Macey (18) and Ami Campbell (13) provided useful support and late impetus was provided by Emily Arlott, with an unbeaten 16 off 12 deliveries, and Charis Pavely (10 not out).

The Rapids totalled 149-4 and Ellie Anderson then made two early breakthroughs with the new ball.

It set the tone for some excellent bowling and Berkshire were restricted to 102-7.

Anderson ended with figures of 4-0-21-2, Arlott 4-0-15-1, Bertwhistle (4-0-25-1) and Jessica Humby (3-0-14-1) while Boycott conceded just 23 runs in her four overs.

The Rapids batters were also amongst the runs in Game Two and did even better in posting 165-6.

It was the opener in Macey who made the major contribution on this occasion with 51 from only 35 deliveries with eight fours.

Captain Chloe Hill, with a run a ball 25, gave Macey excellent support during a third wicket partnership of 69 in seven overs.

After Macey and Hill were dismissed in quick succession, Pavely struck an unbeaten 33 off 25 balls with four fours.

Arlott (3-0-26-1) picked up an early wicket and ran out the other opener before Bertwhistle came into the attack and 50-2 and gave nothing away.

She bowled her four overs in one spell and ended with figures of 4-0-12-2.

There was also a wicket for Ellie Anderson and two run outs as Berkshire closed on 124-6.
