Moeen Ali can look forward to playing for a new franchise in this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) after being sold for nearly £700,000 during today’s auction in Chennai.
The Worcestershire Rapids captain has spent the past two years with Royal Challengers Bangalore and enjoyed a successful 2019 campaign.
He was not retained for 2021 but has signed up by the Chennai Super Kings for rs7 crore, which equals £692,300 at the current exchange rate.
England all-rounder Moeen has just demonstrated his skills in Chennai when taking eight wickets and top-scoring with 43 in the second innings of the Second Test with India.
The 33-year-old has filled the Chennai Super Kings final overseas spot and will link up with England team-mate Sam Curran.
Indian legend MS Dhoni, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja are amongst other star names Moeen can look forward to playing alongside.
The competition will take place during April and May.
