Worcestershire had to be content with a haul of eight points after the final two sessions of their LV=Insurance County Championship match with Gloucestershire at New Road were washed out.

Gloucestershire resumed on 172-3 and added 54 runs for one wicket before captain Graeme van Buuren declared.

Worcestershire were set a target of 301 from 84 overs and had reached 51-4 from 14 overs when the elements intervened.

In addition, Club Captain Brett D’Oliveira had retired through injury after being struck by a delivery from Marchant de Lange.

Worcestershire’s points tally consisted of five for a share of the spoils and three bowling points.

Van Buuren struck an unbeaten 34 although he survived a chance to deep mid-wicket off Joe Leach when on 19.

Chris Dent, 83, was the one wicket to fall before the declaration at 226-4 when he top edged a catch to keeper Ben Cox off Matthew Waite.

Josh Tongue ended with figures of 14-2-37-3 after his impressive bowling on Saturday, Waite 8-1-25-1, Leach 16-4-63-0, Ben Gibbon 13-2-58-0, Dillon Pennington 10-1-29-0 and D’Oliveira 1-0-9-0.

When Worcestershire batted, Ed Pollock (3) and Azhar Ali (9) were caught at square leg and mid-on after attempting to pull Tom Price.

Jack Haynes (0) was undone by a delivery from Marchant de Lange which lifted on him and flew to second slip.

Worcestershire Club Captain, Brett D’Oliveira, then retired after being struck on the arm by a ball from de Lange.

Jake Libby made 22 before he nicked a delivery which lifted on him from Ajeet Singh Dale to gulley.

Waite and Ben Cox saw Worcestershire through to lunch before the heavens opened and prevented a resumption.
