Nathan Smith is chasing trophy glory in the New Zealand Super Smash after helping Wellington Firebirds qualify for the knockout stages.
Worcestershire’s 2024 overseas signing has played a major part in the Firebirds securing a top three spot.
He has picked up 12 wickets at an average of 18.33 and has the Firebirds best economy rate, conceding only 6.47 runs per over.
Wellington are through to the Eliminator on January 26 where they will face Canterbury.
Smith, available to play all formats for Worcestershire, and his team-mates will be out for revenge after losing their final group game to Canterbury on Monday (January 22).
The winners of that game will go through to the final to face group winners Auckland Aces on January 28.
Logan van Beek, who had a spell with Worcestershire last summer, finished as the Firebirds top wicket-taker with 14.
Smith has also chipped in with 97 runs at a strike rate of 149.23
His success in the Super Smash follows on from him being the second highest wicket-taker in the Plunket Shield with 21 scalps from four games at an average of 15.19.
