WORCESTERSHIRE LAUNCH AUCTION IN ADDITION TO SIX-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT FOR MARTIN WATTS

Worcestershire County Cricket Club have launched an online auction in addition to the six-a-side tournament being held this Friday at New Road.

The eight-team event will take place on Friday, August 12, with a Worcestershire player forming part of each team, with entry to New Road and car parking FREE for spectators.

Proceeds from the auction will go to Martin, who joined the ground staff in 1979 but was forced to retire three years ago after suffering a dislocated knee cap and a broken ankle during a fall at home.

Worcester born Martin sustained the injuries whilst carrying shopping from the supermarket for his parents and was the prime carer for both of them until his father passed away.

The New Road gates open at 9:00 with the first group stage games taking place at 10:30.

Once the group stage concludes, the semi-finals begin with both the Plate and Cup semis getting underway from 15:15.

The Plate final starts at 17:00 with the Cup final beginning an hour later at 18:00.

The Graeme Hick Pavilion and New Road Club Shop & Cafe will be open providing refreshments.

The auction prizes include a signed bat from Vikram Solanki’s benefit year, signed by both Worcestershire and Warwickshire players, a Rapids Matchday Mascot experience for the 2023 Vitality Blast, and a LV=Insurance County Championship New Road Legend’s Box Hospitality Package for 2023.

The auction will run from 12:00 on Tuesday August 9 until 10:00 on Monday August 15 and bids can be placed via our Club Shop.

A raffle will also take place during the six-a-side, and tickets can be purchased at New Road on the day.
