Worcestershire CCC 2022 overseas player Matthew Wade will start his bid for more trophy glory this week when he captains Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
Wade, available to play all formats at New Road next summer, was part of the Australian side, which won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three weeks ago.
His 41 not out off 17 balls was a key part of the semi-final win over Pakistan.
Wade’s form in the BBL for the Hurricanes serves as an exciting appetiser for what Worcestershire Rapids fans can look forward to in the Vitality Blast.
Wade was the second-highest in BBL08 with 592 runs and followed that up with an average of 50.14 in BBL09.
It included the second-highest ever individual score in the tournament of 130 not out versus Adelaide Strikers.
International commitments meant Wade could play only three games in BBL10, but he still made a crucial contribution with a strike rate of 187.50 and a match-winning 86 off 44 balls against eventual champions Sydney Sixers.
Wade and the Hurricanes launch their BBL11 campaign on Wednesday (December 8) versus the Sixers at the University of Tasmania Stadium.
He is expected to be available to lead the Hurricanes for the entire tournament.
