Worcestershire CCC Assistant Coach, Alan Richardson, has received further international recognition by being named England’s Pace Bowling Coach for the forthcoming IT20 series against the West Indies in the Caribbean.
Richardson has been appointed for the five-match series along with Anthony McGrath (batting coach) and Paul Tweddle (fielding coach).
Worcestershire Cricket Steering Group Chairman, Paul Pridgeon, says Richardson’s appointment is a “just reward” for all of the coaching staff at New Road.
Richardson, who is also Worcestershire Bowling Coach, was also part of the England Men’s coaching set-up last summer for the Royal London Series victory over Pakistan.
Pridgeon said: “It is another feather in the cap for the Club. Alan is very highly respected within the game.
“It also shows he must have impressed when part of the England set-up against Pakistan last summer, and we are delighted for him to get this latest call-up.
“He has made a big impression at Worcestershire, and we’ve got a terrific coaching team. This is a just reward for all of them.”
The trio were appointed for the five-match series, which begins in Barbados on January 22, following an open recruitment and interview process.
Paul Collingwood has previously been confirmed as Head Coach for the tour with Marcus Trescothick, an Assistant Coach.
The squad is due to fly to Barbados on Saturday.
