Worcestershire CCC Academy were involved in an exciting draw with Oxfordshire-Sussex Academy in a two-day game at Dumbleton CC.
Oxfordshire-Sussex opted to bat and in their first innings totalled 336-6 declared in 64.3 overs.
James Coles hit 117 and there were three wickets for Joe Stanley (3-43) and one apiece for Gabriel Souza (1-49), Charlie Williams (1-62) and Rehaan Edavaleth (1-67).
Myles Holland hit 54 for Worcestershire and then Jack Home (47) and Edavaleth (31) shared an unbroken stand of 74 for the fourth wicket.
Worcestershire declared 194 runs behind at 142-3 from 52 overs and then their opponents pulled out at 64-1 – the only wicket falling to Reeve Evitts – to leave a 259 target.
Holland, with his second fine knock of the game, and Evitts, figured in a stand of 105 for the third wicket.
It became 151-3 when Holland was dismissed for 69 off 74 balls with one six and nine fours and Evitts followed 38 runs later for a 100 ball-76 after hitting 11 boundaries.
Cameron Jones (35) and Edavaleth, with an unbeaten 21 off 13 balls, tried to see Worcestershire over the finishing line but they closed on 250-8 – nine runs short with two wickets remaining.
*Worcestershire Academy Development Of Excellence X1 were beaten by 16 runs by their Warwickshire counterparts in a 50 over game at Aston Manor.
Souza – 3-30 in eight overs – and Seb Smith – 3-24 in 10 – were the most successful Worcestershire bowlers. Evitts, Drew Malik and Stanley collected one wicket each.
Evitts was also again in the runs and remained unbeaten on 63 from 124 balls with seven fours after going in at number four.
But Worcestershire were bowled out for 161 in 49.4 overs.
