WORCESTERSHIRE ACADEMY PLAYER OLIVER DAVIDSON MAKES IMPACT AT UNDER-19 WORLD CUP

Worcestershire CCC Academy player, Oliver Davidson, continued his promising start to the ICC Under-19 World Cup by top-scoring for Scotland in their group match with the West Indies in Basseterre.

Davidson opened the batting, and battled away for 43 off 93 balls with four boundaries, out of an all out total of 95 in 35.1 overs.

Only one other player reached double figures and Davidson came close to carrying his bat.

He was last out when run out after looking for a second run to keep the strike.

Davidson then picked up one of the three wickets to fall when he had Rivaldo Clarke (13) caught behind.

He also bowled the only maiden of the West Indies innings of 96-3 in 19.4 overs, and finished with figures of 4-1-19-1.

Davidson had enjoyed a double breakthrough with the ball in Scotland’s opening game against Sri Lanka in Georgetown.

He bowled number three batsman, Sadisha Rajapaksa (24) and trapped Ranuda Samarathne (5) lbw.

Davidson ended with 2-50 from his quota of overs as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 218 and hit 15 when again opening as Scotland were dismissed for 178.

Davidson and Scotland are next in action against Australia, also in Basseterre, tomorrow (Wednesday).
