luke wood will returns to the worcestershire rapids squad for this evening’s vitality blast north group finale with local rivals birmingham bears at edgbaston.
the on-loan nottinghamshire paceman was ineligible to face his parent club in sunday’s clash at New Road.
wood has played all 10 matches in the blast he has been available for since joining up with worcestershire on a temporary basis last month plus the specsavers county championship clash with somerset.
the 23-year-old is part of a 14 strong squad named by head coach kevin sharp.
official rapids blast captain moeen ali is unavailable to face the bears with england’s third specsavers test against india not getting underway at trent bridge until tomorrow.
brett d’oliveira, who has skippered the side in moeen’s absence, will have a late fitness test on the badly bruised finger suffered when fielding on second eleven duty against warwickshire at barnt green this week.
worcestershire will seal a home quarter-final final if they secure a win, a tie or a wash-out from this evening’s fixture.
but yorkshire vikings victory at northampton steelbacks last night means the bears cannot qualify unless there is a tie between the vikings and notts outlaws at headingley this evening and then, if they defeat the rapids, the fourth qualifying spot will be decided on run rate.
