WOMEN’S RAPIDS WITHOUT FIVE SENIOR PLAYERS AS THEY BID TO COMPLETE TROPHY DOUBLE

Worcestershire Women’s Rapids will be bidding to overcome the absence of several senior players when they take on Cricket Wales in the final of the West Midlands Regional Cup at Moseley CC on Sunday (11am start).

Ellie Anderson, Hannah Hardwick and Charis Pavely have been selected to play in the Schools Games at Loughborough while Charlotte Roberts and Georgia Macey are unavailable.

All five of them were part of the Rapids side which defeated Cricket Wales by eight wickets in a group encounter at St. Fagan’s CC last weekend.

Bryony Gillgrass, Holly Davidson, Liv Gough and Milly Carr have all been drafted into the squad.

The Rapids will be looking to complete a trophy double after their success in the ECB T20 Group Two earlier in the summer.

Rapids captain, Chloe Hill, said: “It is a quite a big blow to lose so many players for the final after having won all of our group matches, and having had such a settled squad.

“All the remaining senior players will just have to step up and make a name for themselves and do well.

“There is the big incentive of the chance to complete a double and an opportunity for some of the age group girls to do well.

“Amy Maund, for example, has come in this year and been fantastic for us.”
