Worcestershire Women’s Rapids team secured the ECB Women’s Championship Division Three, Group E title with an emphatic eight wicket win over Leicestershire and Rutland Women at Kidderminster CC’s Chester Road ground.
The Rapids third success in four group games means they will now face Group B winners Cornwall at home on August 27 in their bid to gain promotion back to Division Two.
Izzy Wong, Jessica Humby and Beth Ellis did the damage with the ball after Leicestershire had been put in and were dismissed for 145 in 40.1 overs.
Then a third wicket century stand between Clare Boycott and keeper Lauren Rowles powered the Rapids to victory with 22.2 overs to spare.
Leicestershire made a solid start with openers Harriet Leach and Rebecca Brazier putting on 52 but the picture changed after the introduction of Wong into the attack as first change.
She caused mayhem in picking up four wickets in quickfire fashion while just five runs were added and ended with figures of 9-4-25-4.
Another half century stand followed between Katie Winterton and Una Paramjothy before Humby re-established the Rapids control with three wickets.
It was then left to Ellis to dispose of the tail in double quick time.
Humby finished with figures of 7-2-26-3 and Ellis 3-2 from 2.1 overs.
Worcestershire suffered a double early setback when they began their reply and stood on 10-2 after the dismissal of Victoria King and Izzy Watson.
But then Boycott and Rowles joined forces for a splendid unbroken stand of 138 to power the Rapids over the finishing line.
Boycott ended unbeaten on 55 from 74 balls with eight fours and Rowles finished 68 not out from 69 deliveries with 13 boundaries.
