Worcestershire Women’s Rapids duo Sarah Glenn and Emily Arlott helped Central Sparks maintain their 100 per cent record in Group B of the Charlotte Edwards Cup with a 24 run win over Sunrisers at Edgbaston.
Glenn and Arlott made early inroads with the ball and ensured Sparks successfully defended their total of 153-5 of which England wicket-keeper-batter, Amy Jones, scored 80 off 49 balls.
Arlott picked up two of the first three wickets and Glenn the other after Sunrisers had been handily placed at 43-0 in the sixth over.
Arlott struck with the last ball of the powerplay and Glenn with the next delivery.
The England spinner ended with excellent figures of 4-1-14-2 and Arlott 4-0-27-2 as Sunrisers closed on 129-8.
Sparks top Group B after winning their opening three games.
Women’s Rapids captain, Chloe Hill, struck 35 not out off 39 balls with one six and three fours as Southern Vipers 2nds defeated Central Sparks 2nds by 10 wickets at Old Whitgiftians CC, South Croyden.
Hill, who hit one six and three fours, share in an opening stand of 97 as the Vipers needed only 12.4 overs to reach their target.
Clare Boycott had top-scored with 26 for Central Sparks 2nds who were restricted to 96-9.
In another game at the same venue, Central Sparks 2nds defeated South East Stars 2nds by four wickets with one ball to spare.
Ellie Anderson (3-0-16-1) and Boycott (3-0-11-1) bowled tightly in a South East Stars total of 133-7.
Charis Pavely made a useful 17 and Boycott (three not out) was at the wicket when Sparks secured victory.
