Wicket-Keeper Clarke Scores Half Century On England Under-19 Test Debut

Worcestershire wicket-keeper Joe Clarke made another important contribution for England Under-19s on the third day of the first Test with South Africa at Fenners.

Clarke, who is making his youth Test debut, picked up four catches behind the stumps in South Africa's first innings total of 433.

He followed that up by making a half century out of England's first innings reply of 352-9 declared.

Clarke came in at 81-3 and shared a fifth wicket stand of 70 with Hampshire's Tom Alsop.

He was eventually fifth out at 182 after making 59 off 91 deliveries with one six and nine fours.

Clarke's Worcestershire colleague, Ed Barnard, had been dismissed for six on the second day.

England declared 81 runs behind and South Africa reached 12-0 off six overs by the close but the game looks likely to end in a draw as only one day is remaining.
