Worcestershire Seconds were restricted to just two overs play on the opening day of the four-day match with Hampshire Seconds at Kidderminster.
Morning rain meant play did not get underway until 2,30 and at that juncture there were a possible 51 overs remaining.
But only 12 balls were bowled before the players wernt off for bad light and then a heavy downpour ended play for the day.
There was time, however, for paceman Josh Tongue to make a breakthrough after 12 runs came from the opening over by Chris Russell.
Tongue bowled Josh Weatherley for four to leave Tom Alsop unbeaten on 12 out of 17-1.
Worcestershire made a late change to their line-up after Alex Gidman's broken finger meant Tom Kohler-Cadmore was called into the first team at Durham.
Leg spinner Darrel Williams was drafted into the team.
The two teams will hope for better weather tomorrow when play is due to resume at 10.30am.
