Who will have the honour of becoming the 500th player to represent Worcestershire CCC in the County Championship?
A total of 497 players have performed for the County in the competition since their first match in May 1899.
Matt Henry (496) and fellow New Zealander Mitchell Santner (497) – via his sole appearance versus Glamorgan – became the latest players to add to the list this summer with Kyle Abbott due to arrive for the second half of the summer.
The likes of George Rhodes – who made his senior breakthrough yesterday in the Royal London One-Day Cup – Josh Tongue, a first class debutant against Oxford MCCU, Alex Hepburn, Ben Twohig and Ollie Westbury could all be possible candidates to be number 500 and join a list packed full of distinguished names.
Recent history suggests the milestone could even be reached in 2016 given that seven players made their Championship debut in 2012, five in 2013 and 2014 and six more last summer.
For those that are interested in such matters, a complete list of Worcestershire County Championship players can be found in 'Pears 150' by Andrew Thomas on Pages 461 to 495.
Current Director Of Cricket Steve Rhodes is 366 on the list and assistant coach-bowling coach Matt Mason is 417 with skipper Daryl Mitchell 432.
