Ross Whiteley will fly out to the UAE this weekend (February 17) for the start of his five week spell in the Pakistan Super League with Multan Sultans.
The Worcestershire all-rounder will gain further experience of playing with and against some of the world’s leading T20 specialists in a competition which runs from February 22 to March 25.
Whiteley has already performed in the Bangladesh Premier League T20 tournament for Sylhet Sixers and the inaugural T10 tournament in Sharjah this winter.
Included in the Sultans squad are Kumar Sangakkara, Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo, Shoaib Malik, Umar Gul, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Irfan and Imran Tahir.
Whiteley and the Sultans are geared up for a challenging start to the tournament.
Their first match will be a week today (February 22) against the 2017 champions Peshawar Zalmi in Dubai.
They will then face the inaugural 2016 winners Islamabad United three days later at the same venue.
Whiteley said: “We’ve got an unbelievable team and I’m pretty excited about getting stuck into that. We’ve got Kieron Pollard, Kumar Sangakkara, Shoaib Malik.”
“You’ve watched a lot of these guys and looked up to them.
“Now you are sat on a coach going to the game with them and sharing a net with them. It’s all a great experience.”
Dubai and Sharjah will stage the group matches but the eliminators will take place in Lahore on March 20 and 21 and the final in Karachi on March 25.
