worcestershire members and supporters will be able to enjoy an extra 20 per cent of cricket at New Road this summer compared to the 2018 campaign.
the participation of the seconds and academy sides in a combined 10 days of action at the county’s headquarters will swell the number of days cricket there in 2019 past the sixty mark.
this compares with the total of 49 days cricket available to view at New Road in 2018.
it is further evidence of the superb value for money that will once again be provided by taking out a worcestershire ccc 2019 membership.
the action at New Road this summer will comprise of
a) eight specsavers county championship matches (including one by warwickshire) = 32 days
b) seven vitality blast group matches (plus a possible semi-final).
c) four royal london one-day cup group matches (plus a possible quarter-final).
d) eight days of international action involving england women, australia, australia a, england under-19s, bangladesh under-19s, india under-19s
e) ten days of seconds and academy fixtures
in 2018 the 49 days viewing were made up of specsavers county championship (32), vitality blast (eight including a quarter-final), royal london one-day cup (five including a semi-final), six days international cricket and two days of seconds action.
the number of days the second x1 will play at the county’s headquarters has been increased from two in 2018 – a trophy 50 over game and a t20 double header – to six this summer.
New Road will stage a second eleven championship match versus derbyshire (june 26-28) and the peakites will also provide the opposition for a trophy encounter (may 20).
in addition the seconds will host nottinghamshire in a t20 double header (july 29) plus two t20 friendly matches on the same day against gloucestershire (august 19).
the full academy team will feature in four days action at New Road in august – a four counties t20 day on august 18 and a three day tri-series match with northamptonshire (august 21 to 23)
after a series of warm-up matches, the seconds competitive programme will get underway with an away trophy encounter with warwickshire on april 18.
the first home game in the 50 over competition will be against leicestershire at rgs worcester five days later.
the championship campaign will start away to lancashire at the end of april with the first home match in the three-day competition being staged at barnt green versus local rivals warwickshire.
the bears will also provide the seconds with their first action in the t20 tournament at stourport in early june.
