WALKER HALF-CENTURY AND FOUR WICKETS FOR FRANKLIN IN DERBY TRIUMPH

Worcestershire CCC Sub Academy XI triumphed by 92 runs against a Warwickshire CCC Development XI in a 50 over game at Coombs Wood, Halesowen.

Oliver Walker and Joel Cox laid the foundations for a Worcestershire total of 255 all out in 49.2 overs after Warwickshire put the home side into bat.

The openers put on 101 before Cox, who struck 44 off 57 balls with six boundaries, was dismissed.

Walker went onto make 53 from 71 deliveries with eight boundaries before he was second out at 121.

Skipper Joe Stanley came into bat at that juncture, made 39 off 52 balls, and added 42 for the fourth wicket with Cameron Jones (20).

When Warwickshire replied, Ben Clements dismissed both openers, and his side kept a grip on proceedings for the remainder of the game.

Wickets fell at regular intervals, although Haaris Azam made 47 before he was last out with the total on 163 in 37.3 overs.

Azam became the last of four victims for Lewis Franklin (4-55), while Paddy Thompson finished with 2-26 from eight overs.
