UNDER-18S CAPTAIN HITS HALF CENTURY IN VICTORY OVER CHESHIRE

Worcestershire CCC Under-18s captain Joe Stanley hit an unbeaten half century in a 65 run win over Cheshire Under-18s at Elworth Cricket Club in a 50 over match.

Stanley helped Worcestershire recover from 146-6 after he had chosen to bat and featured in two crucial lower order partnerships.

He added 65 for the seventh wicket with Oliver Walker (41 off 37 balls with one six and five fours) and an unbroken 44 for the eighth wicket with Oliver Davidson (24 not out from 16 balls).

Stanley remained unbeaten on 56 from 73 deliveries with three boundaries as Worcestershire totalled 255-7.

Keeper Henry Cullen (44 off 50 balls with one six and six fours) and Callum Bennett (30) had been the main contributors during the early part of the innings.

When Cheshire replied, Reeve Evitts removed both openers with the new ball and wickets fell at regular intervals as they were dismissed for 190 in just 33.1 overs.

Walker, with 5-0-26-2, and Tom Parker – brother of Academy 2020-2021 intake player Ben Parker – with 5-0-12-2, enjoyed success with the ball against the middle order.

Lewis Franklin (3-44) then cleaned up three of the last four wickets to fall with Davidson (1-54) the other wicket-taker.
