Zain Ul-Hassan impressed with ball and then bat as Worcestershire Under-17s completed a convincing seven wicket win over Devon Under-17s in a Royal London Cup Group 4A encounter at Stourport CC.
Ul-Hassan took the new ball Devon elected to bat and finished with the excellent figures of 3-31 from his 10 overs.
He then ended unbeaten on 33 and shared in an unbroken stand of 63 in 12 overs with Xavier Clarke – younger brother of Joe – as Worcestershire won with 9.2 overs to spare.
It was their second successive win after their nine wicket triumph over Somerset Under-17s the previous weekend.
Ul-Hassan's victims included B.Phillips who top-scored for Devon with 51 off 79 balls with one six and six fours out of a total of 178-7 in 50 overs.
There were several excellent performances from the Worcestershire bowlers.
Mahaaz Ahmed gave Ul-Hassan good support with 2-40 from his 10 overs, Clarke conceded only 30 runs in 10 overs and George Marshall finished with 1-22 from nine.
Skipper Jack Haynes and Jujhar Johal gave Worcestershire the ideal start in reply with an opening stand of 88 in 19 overs.
Haynes, a century-maker against Somerset, made 39 off 56 balls with five fours while Johal fell one short of his half century. He hit 10 boundaries in his 63 ball knock.
Ul-Hassan and Clarke (30 not out) then joined forces at 119-3 and saw Worcestershire over the finishing line in 40.4 overs.
