TWOHIG TOPS BOWLING AVERAGES AND COX SECOND IN BATTING CHARTS

Ben Twohig finished top of the bowling averages and Ben Cox second in the batting averages for Southern Districts in the South Australia Cricket Association T20 Cup.

But the efforts of the Worcestershire CCC duo were in vain as their team just failed to qualify for the knockout stages which are being staged this weekend.

Twohig was sorely missed through illness for the final group game which Southern Districts lost by just four runs to Adelaide University yesterday – a game re-arranged from December after the blazes that have swept across Australia.

The spinner played in four of the six group matches and finished with eight wickets at an average of 9.25.

Twohig was also his side’s joint leading wicket-taker and had the equal best economy rate, conceding just 4.63 runs per over.

The County’s wicket-keeper-batsman Cox scored 94 runs from his five knocks at an average of 23.50.

His strike rate of 125.3 was the second best by a Southern Districts player in the competition.

Southern Districts finished seventh with three wins and three defeats.
